Equipment

  • 3 bowls
  • 1 Bread Loaf Pan if you don't have one, an aluminum one from your local store works just fine
  • Parchment Paper

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, melted 1 stick of butter, 113 grams
  • ½ cup brown sugar 100 grams
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar 50 grams
  • 2.5 - 3 ripe bananas use 2 if you prefer less banana flavor
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • cup sour cream or yogurt (plain or greek)
  • 2 tbsp Nutella

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour 240 grams
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Swirl

  • ½ cup Nutella 280 grams

Instructions

  • Line the loaf pan with parchment paper. This recipe can fill one large bread loaf pan or 2 small bread loaf pans.
  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Mix the melted butter and sugars together in a large bowl.
  • Mash the bananas in a separate small bowl then add to butter & sugar mixture.
  • Add eggs, vanilla, and sour cream and whisk together.
  • Add the 2 tbsp of Nutella, mixing after each tablespoon is added. If you prefer more of the banana taste and want to see more of a swirl on the bread, skip this step and only use Nutella at the end.
  • In a separate medium bowl, add dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix together until combined.
  • Add half of the dry ingredients into the wet ingredient mixture and mix.
  • Add the rest of the dry ingredients and mix.
  • Warm the 1/2 cup of Nutella in the microwave slightly for about 15 seconds.
  • Add half of the banana bread mixture into the bread loaf pan. Then add about half of the Nutella on top and swirl it with a butterknife.

  • Then add the rest of the banana bread mixture on top, then the rest of the Nutella and swirl again.
  • Place the pan in the oven for about 50 to 55 minutes. Check the bread around 30 minutes in and place a toothpick, knife or fork in the middle to see if it still needs a lot more time left.
  • Once done baking, you can add powdered sugar through a sifter for presentation or just let cool and eat as is!

Notes

Sour Cream - This is used for texture purposes. It allows the bread to come out super soft. You absolutely cannot taste any sour cream flavor in the final product.
