Looking For New Christian Music Artists?
If you’ve recently found yourself wanting to discover some new Christian music artists, then look no further. This year, I’ve taken a deep dive into the Christian music scene across various genres, and as a result, I’ve decided to compile a list of my favorites to share with others on a similar journey. From Christian Afrobeat to Christian indie pop, there’s something here for everyone, and you’re bound to find a new favorite Christian artist in this mix
To be clear, I don’t think that Christian rap or R&B should, in any way, replace Christian worship music. However, I do believe that when you feel like listening to R&B in the car or rap at the gym, it’s beneficial to have Christian alternatives that can positively influence your life. After all, it’s important to protect your ear gates, as many people don’t realize that continuously listening to certain types of music can gradually desensitize them over time.
Effects of Listening to Contemporary Christian Music Artists
For me personally, I’ve found that replacing some of my favorite secular artists with new Christian music artists has helped me refrain from swearing. Furthermore, it’s opened my awareness to negative lyrics in secular songs that I never paid attention to before. It’s also just been amazing seeing how many talented Christian singers and rappers there are using their gifts for God. While I do feel I’ve grown my Christian music catalog to the place where it’s the majority of what I listen to now, I do still play some secular music every now and again, usually R&B.
In this article, I’ll be sharing some of my top Christian music artists, thoughtfully organized by genre. For each artist, I’ll list 3-4 of my favorite songs, with a Spotify link for the first song, an Apple Music link for the second, and a YouTube video for the third. Additionally, I’ll include a few Christian songs as honorable mentions at the end that you should definitely check out.
Christian Afrobeats
Limoblaze
Songs: Your Love, Mowanbe (Mo wa’nbe), Holy Father
Limoblaze is a very popular Christian music artist from Nigeria with a DECORATED catalog. He has a couple albums out and is probably one of the more well-known artists when it comes to Christian Afrobeat. So inevitably, he is the first person on this list. Limoblaze consistently makes upbeat Christian music everyone can enjoy and has features with a lot of different Christian artists.
My current favorite is Holy Father which has more of an Amapiano type of feel to it. Second is Mowanbe featuring Anike (who is also on this list), and the third is Your Love. Some other honorable mentions are Got This, Blessed Child, and 24 Hours. Limoblaze has a song with most of the people I will mention on this list that are also really good!
Annatoria
Songs: Be Still, Stay With Me, Put It On God
Annatoria is a very talented young artist from Zimbabwe. After winning The Voice UK in 2020, she has continued to make music that spans a variety of Christian genres, mainly blending Afrobeats, Pop, and R&B. Be Still is my all time favorite by Annatoria along with Stay With Me and Put It On God. Interestingly, Put It On God is a collaboration between Limoblaze and Annatoria. She has been releasing some excellent singles lately and even put out an EP this year.
It’s truly amazing to see how much she has grown since winning The Voice, and I’m excited to see what comes next for her. I’m also curious about which genres she might explore in her upcoming music.
LULU.
Songs: Yesterdays, Let Go, Home
Ahhh I LOVE LULU. She might just be my favorite Christian artist on this list at the moment. Originally from South London, LULU. is a newer, up-and-coming Afro-Soul artist who’s incredibly talented, with a warm, calming voice. This year, she released an EP titled Dear Disorientated Soul, and it’s definitely worth a listen. Whenever I describe LULU. to my friends, I say she’s like a Christian version of Tems. If there’s any artist to check out on this list, it should definitely be her!
Other Christian Afrobeat Songs – Honorable Mentions:
Give Him Praise by Kofi Dartey
Don’t Let Go by Rehmahz and A Mose
Looku Looku by Marizu
Christian Indie Pop Artists
lydi lynn
Songs: Desert Dream, Keep Breathing, Made for More, Near
Lydi Lynn is an emerging Christian artist from Portland whose music feels pure and relaxing. The EP she released this year, Desert Dream, has a wonderfully cohesive feel, and her soft voice brings a sense of calm and peace. Although her first single was only released in 2021, Lydi Lynn already has a strong sense of her identity as an artist and is making her mark in this genre. Three of my favorite songs from the Desert Dream EP are Desert Dream, Keep Breathing, and Made for More. Another favorite of mine is Near, a single she released in 2022. I’m excited to see what’s next for lydi lynn, and I definitely suggest giving her music a listen.
Sarah Juers
Songs: I can always find You, Keep Going, Everything Will Be Alright, Never Right
Sarah Juers is a Christian artist originally from California but now in NYC. She’s been making music for about 9 years now. Her music is really vulnerable and genuine which feels really refreshing. She’s honest with her listeners about where she is at in her journey. She has so much music out now that many will be able to relate to regardless of whatever season you may find yourself in currently. Some of my current favorites are I can always find You, Keep Going, Everything Will Be Alright, and Never Right.
Claudia Isaki
Songs: Start Over, Heaven, Marathon, Milk & Honey
Claudia Isaki is a French-Congolese Christian singer-songwriter and producer. Her song Marathon is super soothing but at the same time creates a feeling of a super dramatic storyline. The song feels like an honest letter to God but also feels like it would be on the soundtrack for the movie Twilight. Claudia’s voice is distinct and so uniquely hers, her ability to produce so clearly complements the vision she has for her lyrics as well, ultimately creating consistently cohesive music.
Some other strong favorites I have from Claudia are Start Over, Heaven, and Milk & Honey. Her songs Start Over, Heaven, and Marathon are all on her EP called More Flowers. Luckily for us, Claudia already has a couple EP’s out, so go give it a listen!
Christian R&B Artists
Madison Ryann Ward
Songs: You Love Me So, Purified Love, Amen
Madison Ryann Ward is a well-known Christian music artist from Oklahoma, celebrated for her soulful voice that blends pop and R&B seamlessly. Recently, she released a new album in October titled Purified Love, , and without a doubt, it is truly a work of art. Her earlier album, A New Thing, will always have a special place in my heart; it’s a timeless piece that beautifully reminds us of God’s kindness. She also has a unique way of creatively incorporating Bible scripture into her songs, making them both catchy and meaningful.
It was incredibly difficult to only choose 3 songs to share, her whole discography deserves a deep dive. The song You Love Me So is from A New Thing and Purified Love and Amen are on the Purified Love album. She also has a song with Ryan Ofei called Temple that is too good! As well as a song with Limoblaze called Pretty Day that is one of my all time favorites.
Asha Elia
Songs: Any Man, Heavenly War, New Me
Asha Elia is another promising Christian artist from the U.K. bridging the gap between afrobeats and R&B, similar to Annatoria (they actually did a UK tour together). Asha Elia’s voice is really composed but also sweet and melodic.
My favorites are Any Man, Heavenly War, and New Me. The songs Any Man and New Me are more R&B while Heavenly War has small hints of Afrobeats in it. The beat paired with Cleo Sol’s mellow voice in Heavenly War brings a subtle reminder of Tyla’s style—in the best possible way. It’s a blend that feels both refreshing and familiar, making the track truly captivating. Asha Elia also has a song with Limoblaze called Jeje. Make sure to check out her latest album called Awaken.
Cleo Sol
Songs: Reason, Self, Life Will Be
Cleo Sol is an R&B Soul artist from the UK. While Cleo Sol’s has always made consistently inspiring music her first full-length album, Rose In The Dark, wasn’t faith-based although still providing beautifully crafted messages about love and confidence (still one of my favorite albums of all time).
We start to see Cleo Sol express more of her faith in her last three albums: Mother, Heaven, and Gold. Cleo Sol deserves all the recognition, as each piece of art she creates is crafted with such care and beauty. Her smooth melodies, combined with her tender voice, have a way of gently settling under your skin and reaching your soul in the most profound way. Even choosing favorites is incredibly difficult because everything from Cleo Sol is just that good.
Leslie Perez
Songs: Slowly, Far Away, Catch My Breath
Leslie Perez is a rising Christian music artist from Minnesota with a profound passion for music. She creates powerful, hard-hitting Christian R&B/Soul songs that resonate with listeners. This year, she released an EP titled Echo, which includes some of my absolute favorites: Slowly, Far Away, and Catch My Breath. Her unique, soulful voice pairs beautifully with R&B ballads, bringing out their depth and emotion. I can promise you won’t regret adding Leslie Perez to your playlist.
Other Christian R&B/Soul Songs – Honorable Mentions:
Wars by Lord’s Child, Montell Fish & Madison Ryann Ward
When I Pray by DOE
Psalm 51 by CeJae
Christian Rap
Aaron Cole
Songs: SBTN, Have Your Way, Safe Haven, Tables Turned
Aaron Cole is a Grammy-nominated Christian rapper from Bristol, Virginia. This year, he performed his song SBTN at the Grammys, showcasing his talent on a major stage. Aaron Cole was, in fact, my introduction to Christian rap that I thoroughly enjoyed. Christian rap is often an acquired taste for most and it certainly was for me but not when it came to Cole’s album “Sorry I Changed”. I absolutely loved the album from the first listen and had it on repeat for weeks (with no skips).
His music feels genuine, upbeat, and light. If I had to compare him to a secular artist, I would say he reminds me of Blxst—not because their voices are similar, but because of the overall vibe you get from listening to them. It’s the kind of music you want to play loud in the car, with the windows down, on a sunny, good day. All of my favorites are from his Sorry I Changed album, so make sure to give it a listen!
Alex Jean
Songs: Tap In, I Need Faith, Wrote You A Letter, Forever in Faith
Alex Jean is Christian rapper from Orlando, Florida who has gained a lot of traction in the last two years. Many say he sounds like a Christian Pop Smoke due to his very deep voice. I can definitely hear the similarity but I also feel like there are some songs where he sounds similar to Offset. Regardless, Alex Jean is constantly putting out catchy faith-based records that keep you moving. His take on Christian rap music is unique and refreshing.
Furthermore, Alex Jean doesn’t let his voice do all the work for him, he comes up with relatable lyrics while using popular samples to keep the listener tuned in. In his song, I Need Faith, he samples Tem’s song Me & U in a very complementary way. He released an EP this year called “More Than Gold” where he explores more Afrobeats mixed with Hip Hop. I’m excited to see all that’s in store for Alex Jean.
Anike
Songs: Gravity, Top Tier, Again & Again
Anike, previously known as Wande, is a Nigerian-American Christian music artist out of Austin, Texas. She’s toured with Christian artists like Lecrae and TobyMac and has achieved great success since beginning her musical journey. Her most recent self-titled album, Anike, is packed with hit after hit. My top favorite from the album is Gravity. Throughout the record, Anike masterfully blends pop, R&B, and rap, showcasing her ability to fuse genres seamlessly.
Additionally, each song on the album gives a different vibe, so there is definitely something for everybody. The singing on With You instantly brings to mind SZA, while the house-like beat of In The Light feels like a Christian version take on something from Beyoncé’s Renaissance album. Overall, this album serves as a powerful demonstration of just how versatile Anike truly is.
Other Christian Rap – Honorable Mentions:
Para Lam by Kenny Rivers
Noche Al Dia by Kenny Rivers
Good by Red Tips
No Magic by Hulvey
Christian Jazz Music
Emma Nissen
Songs: Breathe, Flesh and Bone, Angels
Emma Nissen is truly one of a kind and, in fact, the only artist I’d place in this category. She creates Christian jazz music, which is refreshingly unique and uncommon amongst many Christian music artists. She reminds me of Yebba, who I also love so much. Both their voices are so powerful and pleasant to listen to.
This year, Nissen released an album titled Love Like You that truly takes listeners on a journey. To my surprise, the jazziness of Breathe captivated me far more than I expected. I can honestly say I’ve never encountered Christian music presented in this way before, and I’m so glad I have now. Additionally, her song Angels feels almost cinematic—the blend of instruments, her voice, the drama—it’s perfect. I highly recommend checking out her album; you won’t regret it.
